Day One...

So, off to Africa we go. We packed everything into just five bags, plus four smaller go bags. One whole bag was practically taken up with bug spray and sunblock. We had malaria medicine, our shots were done - we were good to go. Our first visit to a third world country. Nairobi, here we come.

The flights were actually easy peasy. First from Atlanta to Amsterdam on a night flight. When you have your very own tv in the seat back in front of you, life is pretty good. We flew, we watched, we slept and we woke up in Amsterdam.

We got off the plane and I don't remember one single thing about the airport. Olivia says there was a huge place with the word BREAD made out in wood. And there were teacup booths. And I remember not one thing. Olivia had sparkling water and Ethan wanted cheese but I wouldn't let him have it. I don't know why - like I say, I don't remember!

I guess we got on the plane... I do remember landing at night in Nairobi. It was HOT, and crowded and dirty and dark. We went down to pick up our baggage and we waited and waited and waited for our stuff to come out. Our luggage was probably first in, and it was definitely last out.

Finally we got our stuff, dragged our tired bodies outside, and found... A SIGN! Yay! There was a nice young lady holding a sign that said STRINE FAMILY!
